Did you learn anything? A.K.A. The lecture.

What was said...

"You are a very naughty husky. You should be ashamed of yourself. That poor porcupine was just sitting there minding his own business and you came along and ruined his day. You better be very sorry young man. Do you hear me? Do you realize you've used up your allowance through 2024? You are so lucky. Don't you ever do that again. Are you listening to me? "

What was heard...

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah porcupine blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah...

mmmmm...porcupine...

RAHUSKY

editor's note- thank you all so very much for the well wishes for rara. He is on antibiotics q.i.d for two weeks but otherwise is none the worse for the encounter... I would urge everyone to purchase a good pair of hemostats and keep it in whatever first aid kit you have. I had a leatherman tool, but I had to come an hour out of the mountains to get the correct tool for removing the quills from rara, i.e. hemostats. Thanks again!

Oh and the thing about putting our fingers in your dogs mouth regularly in case you ever have to-yeah it works- also have a pair of winter gloves in your first aid kit to grasp & maneuver the tongue- they are slimy and hard to hold on to:)

Each of my dogs has had 1 encounter with cholla cactus spines. But Allie - the smartest of all, who is now at the Bridge - was chasing something once and ran head-0n into a cholla. The spines went THROUGH her ear. She had them in her gums, her toungue. We tried the pliers for about a minute, and then I took her to the vet. She needed her teeth cleaned anyway. OMD. POOR girl. They pulled 60 out of her mouth. Her ear looked like she had piercings. It only happened once. BE CAREFUL, RA!!

Take care, RA. Best to wait awhile before you give your hooman another scare like that again. But not porcupines, of course.

Poor kiddo, but I know that's exactly what my 2 would be thinking!

Hemostats and a tough glove - good advice I will take note of.

Glad Ra is doing OK. We have been through that ourselves once, not a fun time and I was alone trying to pull all those quills out AND trying to hold my dog.

Great advice.

Yep, the FiveSibes are with you...you didn't do anything wrong in their book. It was the porcupine's fault. How dare it come by you??? Really? Please keep feeling better...and don't worry about the lecture...it wasn't your fault at all and we'll attest to that! ;-) Rest up!
